The ‘Proteus’ live steam radio control model turbine is a single stage, self starting, steam turbine, with ‘De Laval’ type steam acceleration nozzles and fully variable forward and reverse speed control throttle, complete with servo control arm. Available in light grey with blue base and polished brass fittings.
In addition to the steam turbine, a matching steam exhaust elbow is available as an optional add-on accessory. Manufactured from stainless steel, steel brass & aluminium. The turbine is machined by computer numerical control (CNC) from solid aluminium and is mounted on a fully ball raced, balanced 8mm diameter stainless steel shaft with metric 0.5 mod pitch, driving a 4mm wide machine cut brass main gear to produce an overall ratio of 87:1 through a 1/4″ diameter output shaft with ground flat. All steel parts are electroplated and painted.
The unit is designed for radio control with fully variable forward and reverse rotation, it makes a sensational, ultra realistic steam turbine sound and is extremely powerful with sufficient torque to easily run a single 100mm (4″) diameter propeller or run up to 4 smaller 37mm (1.5″) diamater propellors, making this turbine a superb drive choice for your WWII cruiser or battleship. Forward rotation is counter clockwise and reverse rotation is clockwise. Available with ladder and catwalk.
